-Flash – vector + raster animation: an animation type where you can draw all the animation or use scripting. Has almost everything that is needed to animate
-GIF: moving pictures that are most likely not drawn. You can do a lot of editing stuff with it
-3D: three dimensional animating. Usually drawn or using special programs to generate images
-Stop motion: Take a picture, move the object, Take a picture, move the object, etc.
-Claymation: Using clay or plastic and bending/moving it between shots. Or switching props with plastic.
-Cell: transparent layers that move drawn things into different positions on screen
-Direct animation: scratching or marking images on the film (very old fashioned)
-Broadcast Design: used in a lot of commercials. (titles moving small details and such)
-Algorithmic: Encoded and scripted animation (rarely uses drawn images)
-flipbook: Drawing pics. On several pieces of paper arranging them in different positions and flipping the paper to create the illusion of a moving image. Or printing of a different animation on paper and flipping it.
